Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o to Be Inducted into Kenya Publishers Hall of Fame

Kenya’s literary icon Prof. Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o, who passed away on May 28 in Atlanta at the age of 87, is set to be posthumously honored with induction into the Kenya Publishers Hall of Fame.

Ngũgĩ, celebrated worldwide for his novels, plays, and essays, consistently tackled themes of colonialism, identity, and cultural justice. Beyond his creative work, he was a staunch advocate for African writers to embrace indigenous languages, arguing that true liberation begins with cultural expression in one’s mother tongue.

His recognition in the Hall of Fame cements a towering legacy that has shaped generations of writers and continues to influence African literature globally.
